Me Before You - Book vs Movie

Book Review here

As i've finally watched the movie  , i should say that it's is incredible and it has just translated well the containing of the book . But of course , i'll be complaining a bit of the parts that i hoped they would be adapted and the things that maybe changed the characters aspects or didn't made their intentions or personalities clear .

Let me start first with the changes involving the personalities or missed characters . As i said before in my book's review , i liked how the book was a characters book at first place and i've already figured out images and features of them in my mind just by reading . So one of the points i didn't like , was changing some things about them .

For exemple , Will's parents wasn't really a strong couple in the book as it was shown in the movie  And Steven Traynor's affair which was one of reason why he was somehow convinced by his son decision and knows that it could give him freedom . Will has a sister and in the movie scene when Lou knew about his plan , i was waiting for his sister to appear . Let's come to the most thing that annoyed the hell of me in the movie : Patrick . Hey people he wasn't that much kind as you think , he was a selfish ass in the book and i hated him . Do you know that he was the one who told the press about Will's plans of the assisted suicide and that caused alot of trouble to Lou and her family . I hated Kathrina Clark at first too until i've changed my mind starting some parts in the book . Lou didn't accept her sister decision to move and back to home in vacations and there was a very big quarrel . And it was one of the reason why Lou accepted to move in together with Patrick . But none of both parts were in the movie .

Talking about the main characters , i think it couldn't be another perfect cast . Sam Claflin was so Will and Emilia Clarke was typical Lou . You've no idea how much i loved Lou in the book . Being her true-self , her weird fashion taste and her obssesion over those bumblebee tights were on the point in the movie .

There two scenes that i think they got alot of power on me in the book or i really liked but they weren't there in the movie . First , Louisa's memory of being sexually assaulted in the maze and the way Will consoled her when they returned to the same place . I swear i was the whole time like : "Please don't disappoint me, make that scene real please " . But unfortunately it wasn't . Reading the book , i had already that image how much Will wanted hard to reach Lou and hug her while she was crying . That event was influential and for me maybe it was the only little black point about the movie . Because of it , people would knew better why Lou lacked of self-confidence . Second , getting tattoos part , Louisa got a tattoo ( as well Will) which was a thing on her wishlist and it wouldn't happen if Will wasn't there . Will was always the one who pushed her to try and to live the fullest .

Also , Me Before You was mainly from Louisa's prespective and it was something i liked , i don't if it was possible to make it in the movie but i hoped so .

Moments  i laughed and cried as much as in the book as in the movie :

I laughed hard on the first meeting between Lou and Will and how he was acting like a fool to freak her out ( i'm writing this while laughing because it was so hilarious that i still can imagine it my mind )  . Dork Lou scenes were so good too .

My favorite funny moment in the book was Will telling Patrick that Lou gives good bed baths and it perfectly done in the movie :'D

Also the breast talk while they were dancing

The shore scene was the most i cried in . But in the book it was more intense and so emotional. Lou said literally that she loves him but Will said " It's not enough" . That line hit me hard in the book and sadly it wasn't said in the movie .

Finally the last scene when Lou was reading Will's letter in France . He told her to live and confidently wear her bumblebee tights and she was wearing them :')

The movie was a little jumpy and lacks the details but of course a 2 hours adaptation won't give justice to a 481 pages book . Both are good but you'll enjoy way more the book . Please never hesitate to read it even if you have watched the movie . Before ending , i want to mention also a good point about the movie , the soundtracks were so amazing  .
