I should say that i'm fighting my laziness to write down this review . But well i'm doing it because this book deserves it . So, to be honest i'm not a thriller or whatever it should be called fan . I actually don't watch horror movies and everything involving serial killers (don't mock me okay) . But this book has stolen somehow my attention , i mean yeah i've survived all the moments that threatened the hell of me and i've finished it .
Attention ! I don't think i'll able to talk about it without a spoiler free . So if you have this book , grap it now .
The girl with a dragon tattoo is about Mickel Blomkvist , the co-owner of the Millennium (from where the series name is inspired) investigating on the most probably killing's crime of Harriet Vanger after about 50 years . Harriet 's uncle Henrik Vanger has chosen Blomkvist as researcher for this case after employing Lisabeth Salander ( obviously the girl with the dragon tattoo) to investigate about him , offering him a big amount of money and getting important informations about Wennerström .
Talking about characters , i was fascinated by Lisabeth's .No matter how people have seen her (mentally incompetent ) or whatever she has endured (being sexually assaulted) , she had that strong personality that you would envy .
I had those moment when i was screaming : "you rock girl " . First , her getting a revenge on her abuser who was actually her legal gardian . Then her fighting Martin Vanger while she was saving Blomkvist who was about to be killed .
I should say that the book was so well written that the sexual abuse and rape scenes have really affected me . Also the attempt to kill Blomkivist and then Martin talking about his women harassment and killing basement were so intense . But really the most ugly (most sincerely written ) scene was Harriet talking about what her dad and her brother were doing to her .
The book is a real roller coaster : so much yet synchronized events . Maybe it was a little slow by the middle of it since there were alot of characters , alot of doubt of the names and codes meaning on Harriet dairy and theories about who could be the serial killer . But the end last 150 pages were so good and so interesting .
It would be a long review if i would talk about every character in the book , how each one was different and how i literally doubt every member of Vanger family being the serial killer . That was genius from Stig Larsson . I expected Harriet being alive but the moment of her appearence was unexpected ( is it just me though ?) .
I loved how before each chapter , it was written a note about statistics of violence or sexual abuse on women in Sweden .
Finally i can't wait to start the 2nd book , since end of the 1st book was so anticipating for a new interesting story .
For the movie adaptation , i guess there two , an american one and a swedish one .
