The Fault In Our Stars - John Green

Goodreads : 4/5 stars
Language : English
Genre : contemporary/ YA

The fault in our stars " , first thing anyone would ask you after finishing it : "Did you cry " . Sorry to disappoint you all and say i didn't shed a tear .

i should admit that i was dying to get the book so i could read it and catch up all the people who were mesmerised by this book but now i'm disappointed .I mean it wasn't that kind of book that i was so emotional and i would need time to move on about .

First , let me at least introduce it generally and point out the things i didn't like after .

It's about 2 teenagers .  Hazel ( i liked her name) , 16 years old girl with of thyroid cancer that she has to live carrying an oxygen tank since the age of 12 , met Augustus aka Gus 17 years old guy , who was in remission of cancer and he lost a leg previously,  in a support meeting group ( a group where of diagnosed cancer people meet to talk about their struggles and ilness)  .

Augustus was there to support his friend Issac who will be soon blind because of a removing surgery to his remaining eye . He had a first sight crush on Hazel and from there they started talking and hanging out together .

I should say that i got bored at some point when they started dating . Everything was typical of any teenagers  relationship . I was like : "where the hell is the plot twist please , i need some excitement" the whole time , until Amesterdam trip happened .

I started getting excited when they visited Van Houten and they figure out he wasn't very kind author but an alcholic inconsiderate and rude one . I wanted hard to punch his face i swear at that part .

I found the romance in this book a little cheesy , maybe i'm not anymore a teenager to freak out about some things  . But the only parts when i kind of liked them being together were when Gus health has worsen , literally lost control on his body and he was ashamed that Hazel has seen that side of him .

I disliked Hazel to be honest . I know that she was struggling with cancer at young age and it wasn't a battle to defeat it but to make her life longer , but i always felt that she was passive , so different from how was Gus dealing with things even when [Spoilers alert] he was dying .

I didn't even cry when Gus died . The only two parts where i was a little emotionally affected were first when Hazel and Gus were in the museum and he told her to notice that between all the dead people honored there , there's no one due to cancer and second when Gus went to get cigarettes alone  and ends up to be affected .

I liked the humor in this book . Issac throwing eggs part was hilarious . That was one of the reason i rated it 4 stars instead of 3 along with my respect and support to the cancer patients and their beloved ones . After all , i still think we're not aware enough of their struggles and pain .

Yes there's the title of the book , i was wondering why it was titled like that not something else until i've read that line in Gus letter to Van Houten about Hazel : "My thoughts are stars I cannot fathom into constellations"

The fault in our stars has a movie adaption here the trailer and like who didn't watch it  ? Me of course because i rarely watch a movie before reading a book though people have been talking about it since 2 years . Now i feel weird but i hope the movie is better than the book  . I'll watch later on and make a review to see how much is it different from the book .
